Domestic solar panel installations across the UK soared in the first half of 2025, with more than 99,500 systems fitted between January and June—a 22% rise compared to the same period last year.
According to new data from renewable energy platform iChoosr, figures, drawn from the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS), underline growing public interest in sustainable energy.
Areas leading the transition include Argyll and Bute, where 1.4% of households now have panels, closely followed by The Cotswolds (1.38%) and Ceredigion (1.29%). Notably, five of the top ten regions for installations are in Wales.
The increase coincides with a wider 18% rise in domestic renewable installations—spanning solar panels, battery storage and heat pumps—compared to the first six months of 2024.
The momentum follows new polling by iChoosr, revealing nearly half of Brits (47%) want to be more eco-conscious, while 32% express interest in solar panels and 18% in heat pumps.
The spike also aligns with the UK Government’s newly launched Solar Roadmap, which outlines plans to fast-track solar deployment, cut emissions, reduce energy bills and create jobs in the clean energy sector.
