CCA New Entrant Application Window Announcement

The UK Government has extended the application window for new entrants to the Climate Change Agreement (CCA) scheme until 30 September 2025.

This window is a crucial opportunity for eligible businesses to secure Climate Change Levy (CCL) relief ahead of the next Target Period.

What is the CCA Scheme?

The Climate Change Agreement (CCA) scheme is a voluntary initiative that allows eligible businesses in energy-intensive sectors to receive discounts on the Climate Change Levy (CCL) — a tax applied to energy bills.

In return, businesses commit to meeting energy efficiency or carbon reduction targets over set periods. The scheme supports the UK’s wider goals to cut carbon emissions and promote sustainable practices across industries.

The Environment Agency administers the scheme on behalf of the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ).

Who can apply?

Open to new entrants in existing over 50 sectors, including Data Centres, supermarkets and packaging.

When will benefits begin?

Approved applicants will be able to receive CCL discounts from 1 January 2026, marking the start of the new scheme’s first target period (TP7).
