The As Sufun solar plant will generate enough electricity to power 68,400 homes a year

A consortium of TotalEnergies and Saudi developer Aljomaih Energy & Water (AEW) has been awarded a licence to develop, build and operate a 400MW solar power plant in Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) granted the award following a competitive tender, with electricity from the facility to be sold to SPPC under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).

The project in As Sufun will provide clean energy to more than 68,400 homes a year, with the grid connection expected in 2027.

It supports Saudi Vision 2030, which targets up to 50% of the country’s installed power capacity from renewables and storage by 2030.
